The intercultural encounter in teaching French as a foreign language and in translation through
transcreation
Travelling, living abroad for a few years as well as leading my career as a French as a second language teacher from 1998 to 2009 gave me the chance to interact with students native from many different cultures.
In an intercultural approach to teaching FSL, I have been particularly interested in understanding the structure of my students' mother tongue in order to better understand their difficulties in learning French.
In translation projects, in addition to the knowledge of the source and target languages (FrFR/CA - EnCA/US/GB), I use this skill through empathic reading to understand the intention and the cultural dimension of the message. I am therefore particularly interested in transcreation.

Getting involved
Furthermore, by getting involved in several pedagogical development committees, pilot projects and educational conferences, I stood out as a proactive professionnal employee.
After teaching for 11 years, I became a pedagogical counselor at CEGEP de Saint-Laurent (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel) in Montréal from 2009 to 2019. I advised, supported and worked along with a teaching team of close to 30 people as well as 280 students annually in their transition to educational programs related to their professional expertise.
Since 2019, I have dedicated myself to translation on a full-time basis.
My passions

With a backpack or in our vintage van, I love to travel, discover new landscapes, taste local food in markets and meet new cultures.

Originally from the French Alps, I love doing outdoor activities, downhill and backcountry skiing.

I'm curious and interested in all kinds of subjects and cultural activities are part of my daily life.
I also a volunteer in the library of my village, Eastman, in the Eastern Townships.
